I should be working but I just had to share this.
It's been really sunny with blue skies in Glasgow all week- that's 5 days in a row I believe, and you've no idea how the residents of this fair city have perked up. I mean, this rarely happens in summer let alone after all the horrendous storms and dark winter days we've had.
So, I went for lunch then went for a brief walk in the sun up to my special tree in Queen's Park. I was pootling along the path; there were a couple of guys sitting on a park bench ahead of me. They weren't junkies, but they were thin and raggedy and appeared to be drinking out of bottles hidden within bags. I braced myself ever so slightly, and sure enough as I drew level, one of them said "Excuse me! Excuse me!" I figured he was going to ask for a light or a cigarette so I looked over, not unfriendly but ready to say "Sorry" and keep moving. The guy looked stunned that I'd half stopped, and there was a pause; then he said "Er, take care!" or "Mind how you go" or words to that effect. I was surprised myself at this kind thought, so I smiled... then he said "I think I love you! I love you!" He was smiling, all gap-toothed... they were both only in their thirties... I said "Oh, that's sweet! Thanks very much" and walked quickly away not wanting to hear any sarcastic punchline that might follow. There was none and it left me with a happy glow. A raggedy man in the park loves me, based solely on my purple Russian hat, purple boots, green stripy top, green suede jacket, multicoloured Thai silk scarf, and geeky librarian glasses. Either that or my ineffable aura of lovableness.
