Babs and I recently went to a reading at Ottakar's in Glasgow. Five young Scottish authors were doing a reading tour around Scotland. I enjoyed all of them, but Leodhasach Kevin MacNeil was the stand out author. He read the segment on Martin Monkeynuts from his recent book "The Stornaway Way" and I cried at the end. He kindly signed my copy of his book (in Gaelic), and demurred in true Lewis fashion when I said he was the best of the bunch that night. I admitted I am a Gaelic learner, but the sharp look he gave me when I said he should make the inscription to "Morag" rather than "Sarah" made me fear that I will appear in his next book as a fuckwit. Oh well, it would be an honour.
