My friend Julie kindly scanned and posted this photo she took on her Flickr account, at my request. We were both at the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative 2006 Conference in Manzanillo, Mexico last year, and, once you escaped the barbed wire fence around the resort the conference was in, you ended up on a massive beach, where the locals hung out. So a bunch of us made our escape one day and swam in the surf. We also saw some interesting wildlife- notably, what we thought at first was sharks, but it turned out to be the wings(? fins? they look like wings!) of manta rays playing and feeding in the surf. They were so elegant, it was a real thrill. So here I am sitting on the beach, clearly getting more sunburnt than I should.
